This information has been sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police Message sent by (3155) Julia Williams (Police, Neighbourhood Policing Admin, South Oxon and Vale) Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following tool thefts in the Wantage area. • Between 8.30pm on Sunday (15/10) and 7.30am on Monday (16/10) unknown offenders broke into a white Ford Transit (index G***DXJ) on Springfield Road and stole power tools. • Between 7pm on Sunday (15/10) and 8.15am on Monday (16/10) unknown offenders broke into a silver VW Transporter (index T**TLC) on Barwell and stole tools. If you have seen any suspicious looking people or vehicles in the area or have any information relating to this message please call the Police via the 24 hour non-emergency telephone number 101. Alternatively, if you have information but wish to remain anonymous, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online by visiting www.crimestoppers-org.uk. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court. Please do not leave tools and valuables in your vehicles overnight. Please install extra locks and alarms where possible, park on driveways or in well-lit areas and install CCTV. Consider security marking your tools to make them less desirable and more chance of them being returned to you if stolen.
Following consultation and gathering of evidence, the Vale of White Horse District Council are nearly ready to submit their Local Plan 2031 Part 2 for independent examination. The Local Plan 2031 Part 2 sets out policies and locations for housing for the Vale of White Horse district’s proportion of Oxford’s housing need up to 2031, which cannot be met within the City boundaries. The document also contains policies for the part of the Didcot Garden Town that lies within the Vale and detailed development management policies to complement Local Plan 2031 Part 1. It replaces the saved policies of the Local Plan 2011 and allocates additional development sites for housing. Before the Vale submit their Plan, they are carrying out a six-week publicity period, which will run from today until 5pm on Wednesday 22 November 2017. The publicity period is different from the previous consultation, as the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) Regulations 2012 dictate that they ask specific questions relating to the soundness and legality of the Plan. After the publicity period, they will submit the Plan to the Secretary of State, who will appoint a Planning Inspector to carry out an independent examination. The inspector will then examine the Plan, the evidence supporting it and the comments received, and make a decision on whether the Plan is “sound” and “legally compliant”. The Vale will also be hosting public events across the district to help explain the publicity process and how to comment. The events will all provide the same information so please feel free to attend any event. How to comment Responses can be made until 5pm on 22 November 2017 by: • using our online consultation system (registration is required); • downloading the comment form and emailing it to [email protected]; • collecting a comment form from one of the locations listed below and posting it to Planning Policy, VOWH 135 Eastern Avenue, Milton Park, Abingdon OX14 4SB; • attending one of our public events. For your comments to be considered, you must provide your name and address. All responses received will be available for the public to view. If you respond on behalf of an organisation or agent we may display your name and contact details. If you respond as an individual we may display your name, but we will not display your contact details. All comments will be passed on to the Secretary of State. Notification You may also state in your response if you would like to be notified about the submission of the Plan to the Secretary of State, any recommendations resulting from an independent examination, and finally whether the Local Plan is adopted. Have your say on plans for a new leisure centre for Wantage and Grove You can now have your say on plans for a new leisure centre for the Wantage and Grove area. With up to 5,000 new homes expected to be built in the local area at sites such as Grove Airfield and Crab Hill by 2031, we are looking to locate a new centre at Mably Way, next to the A417, to ensure we can meet the increased demand for leisure facilities.
