Theft from vehicles – Have you left anything on display in your vehicle?
There have been a number of thefts from vehicles reported already this year for the South Oxon and Vale local police area, details as follows:
Overnight 9th – 10th January, Van Diemans Close, Chinnor, Thame
Back window of vehicle smashed and property stolen from the back seat
9th January – Steventon Road, Drayton, Abingdon
Back window smashed on vehicle and £200 scanner stolen
7th January – Dragon Hill Road, Woolstone, Faringdon
Handbag, credit cards and cash stolen from vehicle.
8th January – Childrey, Wantage
Rear windscreen smashed, handbag and contents stolen.
Some of the thefts reported have been from beauty spots, where people have parked up to go for a walk and left valuable items on display in their vehicles.
Don’t make it easy for thieves, when leaving your vehicle parked up at night or when left unattended for any period of time, please remember to make sure it is secure and remove any valuables. If you become a victim, it is not just the replacement of items stolen, but the inconvenience caused and sometimes the costly repair to your vehicle.
Please can you forward this message onto any friends, family and work colleagues who do not receive community messages, to advise them NOT to leave anything of value in their vehicles.
Please be extra vigilant and report anyone acting suspiciously in or around parked vehicles to the police. If you have seen any suspicious looking people or vehicles in the area or have any information relating to this message, please call the police on the new national single non-emergency telephone number 101 and state you are responding to a Ringmaster message.
Alternatively if you have information but wish to remain anonymous, please call Crimestoppers on
